Believing that imitation is the highest form of flattery, Cath views art as a way to reflect God as Creator. She finds creation to be a limitless source of inspiration for her paintings. Working primarily in watercolor, Cath explores a variety of mediums and techniques. For example, in one of her acrylic ocean abstracts done on photo paper, she enjoyed using an underpainting of wet on wet as would be found in watercolor.

 

Cath enjoys teaching watercolor through the ILR program at Frederick Community College.  Additionally, she teaches watercolor to high school students at Cornerstone Homeschool Cooperative.

Currently, Cath is working on a Celebrate New Market project. Originals and giclee prints are displayed and available to purchase in Prospect Pantry at 1 West Main Street.  An historic pack of notecards are also sold there. This past decade Cath worked on a private collection of paintings celebrating the restoration of Hagerstown’s architecture.

She displays her work at Christmas in the Country, in Libertytown MD the second Saturday of November, and at Christmas in New Market on the first Saturday of December.

Cath’s work in pastel began at a young age at the Atlas Art Studio in Westfield, NJ. Her art studies continued at Covenant College in TN. She studied watercolor with Skip Lawrence, Phyllis Reif, Rebecca Pearl and Bonny Lundy. Her love of learning leads her to artists that she admires.

Cath’s studio gallery is in Libertytown, MD. Her gallery was named after her daughters, “Seven Sisters”.
